Why Is A Tribe A Good Solution For Entrepreneurs?
Being an entrepreneur can sometimes be lonely. When you work in a job you usually work with other people and you have this idea that working for yourself is brilliant because you no longer have to answer to a ‘boss’ or interact with other people in the company who you may not get on with. I know that when I first started I struggled with being on my own and not having people to talk to. I worked for a young innovative company with some great people and I missed them so much for the first year it was tough.
Saying that, choosing to work for myself and learning to grow as an individual was the best thing I ever did and I have no regrets whatsoever.
But you don’t have to feel lonely any more. With the power of social media, especially Facebook, it is so easy to interact with other people on a regular basis and there are also plenty of events to go to for entrepreneurs to network and meet up. Even more recent there are ‘tribes’ on the internet with people just like you who want to share and give your content away to help you succeed.
Just recently I have been looking more into these Tribe’s for growing my social media presence and realised the power of this model for my Businesses so I want to share it with you.
What is a Tribe Exactly?
Well for me I imagine Native American’s (my ancestors!) with their feather headbands and war paint, chanting in circles around the fire and looking after each other…….Living in harmony together in a tepee. Ok so I know this is a stereo-type but to me it’s a beautiful image of how they live! Lol.
So I get the concept of a tribe, it’s like a unity. The UK have a problem with uniting for the most part, but when it comes to football and the world cup which is on very soon they are excellent then at coming together and being proud to be British.
One of my favourite authors Seth Godin who is the creator of Squidoo describes a tribe like this:
“A tribe is a group of people, connected to one another, connected to a leader and connected to an idea”
Perfectly explained! Much easier to comprehend than my long winded version! Lol. So in terms of a marketing tribe, there are groups of people on the internet just like you and I; who form a tribe online and work together to help each other promote other businesses.
What a wonderful idea!
So How Can a Tribe Help You With Your Business?
The beautiful Katie Freiling has just released a free Ebook called Social Media Manifesto which talks about how to step by step transform your social media presence by leveraging your own marketing efforts and being part of a unified tribe. She explains that with your own marketing you can reach a wide audience but with a tribe helping you out and sharing your content you can times that by 10, if not more!
I have personally joined in with Kary Rogney and his tribe syndication network on facebook see here as it’s free and he is a great guy, full of passion to help others succeed, as am I. But I’m intrigued to see what Katie is doing with her unified tribe as I know that everything she puts out is of great value.
How Does a Tribe Work Exactly?
The best way to explain would be that you connect with 5 people to start, in the syndication and get to know them on a personal level as well as a business level. Build a solid relationship with them and then start sharing their content through the social networks, like on your facebook status updates, twitter, even make a short video about something they have recently done that you liked. Do whatever you can to help them out and get them noticed. By doing so, you are not only helping them achieve their goals but you feel good because you know that you are putting good content out there and actually helping other people who read/watch it. In return you will get the same love back and you will feel the positive vibes being released everywhere you go.

I would also check out Katie too, she is an amazing human being who really genuinely cares about other people and their success. I’m sure her tribe will be super awesome when it’s released in a week or so.
So to conclude, I think if you want to really network and get yourself out there then a tribe is perfect for you. It’s also a great chance to make new friends and who knows, maybe some time down the line you can all meet up, put on your feather hats and face paint and dance around a fire somewhere, just for fun!
